  Core Functions

  Measures relative wind speed and direction for ships; outputs NMEA-0183 serial port data to navigation computers, DP dynamic positioning systems, and bridge display units.

  No mechanical rotating parts, no wind cup wear, suitable for long-term continuous monitoring at sea.

  A single sensor can drive 1-3 local display instruments, allowing simultaneous viewing of wind parameters at multiple points on the bridge and wing bridge.

  Outputs raw measurement data, which is then converted by the ship's system into absolute wind speed and direction based on ship speed and heading (the sensor itself does not directly output absolute values).


  Working Principle

  Three ultrasonic transducers are arranged in an equilateral triangle, operating at a 270kHz ultrasonic frequency. The probes transmit and receive ultrasonic waves bidirectionally between each other. In calm conditions, the propagation time of ultrasonic waves is equal in both directions; in windy conditions, the propagation time with the wind is shorter, and the propagation time against the wind is longer.

  By comparing the time difference of flight in both directions for each pair of probes, a two-dimensional wind speed vector is calculated, yielding the wind speed magnitude and wind direction angle.

  The algorithm automatically cancels out the interference caused by temperature on the speed of sound, achieving a maximum of 4 complete measurement cycles per second, resulting in a fast response speed.

  Protection Rating: IP66, seawater protective housing, suitable for open-air installation on ships

  CP-1: No built-in heating, suitable for warm sea areas with almost no risk of icing; WSS (with heating) is recommended for low-temperature icing environments

  Power Supply: DC24V ship power supply

  System Composition: CP-1 sensor body + interface box + WSDI-2 display unit


  Application Scenarios

  Merchant ships, offshore auxiliary vessels: Bridge weather monitoring, navigation safety reference

  DP2/DP3 dynamic positioning vessels: Input wind disturbance to the DP system and participate in positioning control

  Nearshore vessels, tropical water platforms (CP-1 preferred, no icing); CP-1 is prohibited in high-latitude cold waters, a heated WSS should be selected instead. Model


  Installation Points

  Avoid installing near chimneys, masts, and areas affected by airflow disturbances from superstructures; ideally, locate the highest, most open area on the ship.

  Use shielded marine cable; ensure the interface box is waterproof and sealed; keep away from high-power RF and frequency converter equipment to avoid interference with the NMEA signal.

  CP-1 has no de-icing capability; low-temperature icing will cause measurement failure, requiring regular manual de-icing on-site.


  Common Faults

  Wind drift, wind speed 0: Salt spray accumulation on the probe, marine organism adhesion; clean the surface of the ultrasonic probe.

  No NMEA output: Check the interface box power supply, terminating resistor, and shielding grounding.
