  The MVDL1000-47941101 is a static excitation system power unit/control unit manufactured by GE, belonging to the MVDL1000 series excitation equipment.

  This excitation unit is the core component of the GE static rectifier excitation system. Its main function is to provide adjustable DC excitation current to the synchronous generator rotor windings to establish the generator magnetic field.

  Its main technical features and functions are as follows:

  I. Basic Structure

  The equipment consists of a thyristor rectifier bridge (SCR), excitation regulator, phase-shifting trigger unit, regulated power supply, and protection circuit. The rectifier bridge uses forced air cooling and is equipped with a fan powered by a single-phase 115V AC power supply. With redundant configuration, the fan can be replaced during operation. The auxiliary cabinet includes modules for excitation DC power supply, AC power filtering, demagnetization, and shaft voltage suppression.

  II. Regulation Functions

  The inner loop regulator includes an excitation voltage regulator (FVR) and an excitation current regulator (FCR). It features an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) function, supporting both automatic (adjustment based on generator terminal voltage deviation) and manual (adjustment based on excitation current deviation) operating modes.   III. Limitations and Protection

  Overexcitation limit tripping, underexcitation limit (underexcitation curve composed of 11 fitted points), V/Hz limit (operating value typically 1.05 pu), stator current limit, loss of excitation protection, shaft voltage suppression, and excitation transformer harmonic current monitoring. It also features pulse disappearance protection, voltage transformer disconnection protection, loss of synchronism protection, and automatic resynchronization functions.

  IV. Power System Stabilizer (PSS)

  The built-in PSS mathematical model uses generator terminal voltage, speed deviation, or power deviation as additional signals. Through a second-order lead compensation stage, it increases system damping, raising the system's limiting operating angle to 110-120 degrees.

  V. Operating Modes

  Supports dual closed-loop operation with constant power factor and constant excitation current. It features simulated operation testing functions such as start-up, shutdown, excitation increase/decrease, and fault alarm. In simulation mode, no actual output or control pulses are generated. Dual microcomputers with dual channels provide hot standby for each other, enabling seamless switching.

  VI. Communication and Interfaces

  Equipped with an RS-485 communication interface, using Modbus and other communication protocols, it can exchange data with power plant DCS or monitoring systems, transmitting operating parameters, working status, and fault information, supporting remote operation.

  This equipment is suitable for excitation control of small and medium-sized synchronous generators and industrial equipment. It complies with DNV and UL standards, has a wide operating temperature range, and can operate in harsh industrial environments.
